Example of the Places API use

How it works

In response to an HTTP request, the server returns JSON with a list of objects. The response may contain up to 500 objects, listed in order of relevancy. To show the objects on the map, use the JavaScript API or the Static API.

To search for organizations, the API uses the Yandex Business Directory. This is a database of organizations that is used in Yandex.Maps, Yandex.Navigator, and the Yandex search engine. The Business Directory is continually updated with new data, including information submitted by business owners and other Yandex users.
