Yandex.Tank is a utility for load testing and performance analysis of web services and applications. Tank was developed at Yandex in 2006 for testing the banner system. Now it is one of the main tools for measuring performance.

The modular architecture of Yandex.Tank allows using various load generators. These include the high-performance asynchronous hit-based HTTP request generator Phantom and the scenario-based utility jMeter, which generates loads for different types of protocols.

Main features
  • built-in monitoring of server resources via SSH transport
  • ability to stop load test execution based on runtime criteria, i.e. if the server response time exceeds the given threshold
  • results are displayed in the text console and in HTML graphic reports
  • open architecture allows extending functionality with third-party modules
